DESCRIPTION
Ibuprofen 400mg is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and lower fever.
Indications:
Ibuprofen is effective in managing mild to moderate pain such as headaches, muscle aches, dental pain, back pain, menstrual cramps, and joint pain. It is also used to reduce fever and alleviate discomfort from common colds or flu. Additionally, it helps in conditions like arthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis.
Off-Label Uses:
Management of patent ductus arteriosus in premature infants
Prevention of high-altitude headache
Treatment of migraine headaches
Pregnancy Safety:
Ibuprofen is classified as Pregnancy Category D during the third trimester due to the risk of premature closure of the ductus arteriosus in the fetus and potential complications during labour. It should be avoided in the last trimester unless absolutely necessary and prescribed by a healthcare professional. Use during the first and second trimesters should be under medical supervision. Always consult a doctor before using Ibuprofen during pregnancy.
Dosage and How to Take It:
Adults and Children over 12 years: The usual recommended dose is 400mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
